Mental health: Food

Eng/ There is some safety in simple things. Maybe its their quiet simplicity, the familiar colors and shapes, the comforting flavors, the smell. Having experienced scarcity, it comforts me to know there’s fruit at home. For me, fruit means abundance, and the lack of it triggers my anxiety wich honestly is not good nowadays.

Its interesting to watch how we connect with food, specially dealing with an eating disorder. Many cultures celebrate life around food, while diet culture compels us to starve. Many feelings are triggered after a complicated relationship with food and may generate some unpleasant situations later.

I remember a latin quote that I wanted to get tattoed for years, and I recently understood how wrong I was: QUOD ME NUTRIT ME DESTRUIT (what nourishes me destroys me). The problem isn’t food, the problem is our relationship with it. If we don’t stop fearing food and fixing how we deal with it, no matter how thin we get, the problem will catch us whatever size we go.

Oh don’t mind me its just me a person dealing with mental health issues and learning self-love. Because self-love is revolutionary.
